Finding Flexion

A soft air practice to gently open up your spine, perfect for those of you a little nervous of ‘overly back-bending’ in a faster vinyasa class. The asana sequence creates elasticity in the frontal hip joint and a deeper awareness through the back body, across and down the spinal column.
Expect slow but powerfully deep work as we stretch and pulsate in Warrior 2 and skandasana. Movements here aim to strengthen the back chain and lengthen with the idea of finding extra space within.

Simple and serene this water practice will focus on an array of pyramid poses to stretch your legs and activate a little hip adduction. Let’s play with our sensations of buoyancy and float. Even when we are completely still the bodies vibrational qualities dilate via the heart outwards. Can we sense into our internal float - our capacity to hover from the front all the way to the back body. Eventually can we feel into our heads sinking towards this floating heart? Enjoy the hearts pulsation - it can be felt around the whole circumference of the body as we hold steady and float.

A strong yet active vinyasa flow (nearly placed into the sun series!). This vinyasa moves into a repeated sequence sure to awaken your feet, with lots of dorsi flexion (or naughty toes for those of you who remember ballet class). This playful vinyasa looks at building strength within a pose, expect plenty of hip flexion, some yummy forward folds and a new active entry into pincha mayurasana. Even though this practise is relatively short, it’s warm and invigorating.

Veil of Truth

In Tantric texts they belief that our soul or inner light of awareness is covered by a veil of dust - a covering called ‘maya’. This film/dust is also known as the illusion that prevents us from seeing the world clearly. Here we lift that veil of illusion - using the physical practise to unearth what lies beneath. Can we really use this time on our mats to sink into a state of flow, moving to and fro can we quieten our busy minds? This practise slightly repeats certain movements and particular poses. There is slightly more attention towards the hips and pelvis - a great practise if you are trying to mentally process something or if your looking for an all body stretch.

Spinal Spin

Enjoy this low impact water session as we get right into the full rotation of the spinal column. Here we dive into the hip flexors and hamstrings. Looking at a variety of entry points into splits with the combination of internal v external rotation of the upper thigh muscles. Bring as much support as you need to finish and pause the final stages of the practise in Hanumanasana (full grounded splits). This class is for everyone and should be seen as a progression, with patience and softness learn to sit with internal resistance for this mighty peak pose!
