How fire and warmth created through physical asana leads to purification - a sense of clarity of thought. Stay curious, how does the mind alter from the start of this class to the end? Simple Sun

A simple yet energizing sunshine flow, perfect if you’re short of time but looking for a full body stretch. Here we touch upon the concept of Tapas ( fiery cleansing) a topic which re-occurs again and again within the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, as well as Light on Life by Iyengar. Can we use this precious time to cleanse the body, find lightness in the physical self with a little heat and a lot of love.

Seemingly

A gentle sun flow to open the side body through an array of balances, twists and heart openers. Starting with a circular transition from Warrior 2 to reverse warrior to warm up the body, moving towards a creative standing sequence to move you 360 around the mat and finally we finish with some hip stretches. Be prepared for little anatomical instruction in this simple, yet warm vinyasa.
The intention here is to allow the body to stay grounded as we flow from left to right side. Offer up each pose by closing the eyes, send awareness within. Our time on our mats is sacred; here we find balance between the two sides of the physical self - you might wonder where these seams find centre, where opposites collide? (Perhaps this is your enquiry for todays flow?)

Firefly

A warm and free flowing vinyasa to get the body ready for titibasana - frirefly pose. Firefly requires equal parts strength and length in the inner legs, hamstrings, glutes, and low back. This sequence is designed to prepare your body for this peak pose. Class includes a heart opening warm up, deep hip openers and static poses to wake up the core abdominals. Finally we cool down through a variety of supine twists and forward folds. While some of these challenging poses require focus, don't take yourself too seriously, this class was designed for play!

In the Past

Spend a little moment pondering over the concept of time in this energising and powerful vinyasa flow. Bryon Katie a beautiful Author of ‘The Mind at Home with Itself’ gives a lovely analogy of time as it moves past the body like the wake of a ship. How pain or discomfort are always in a process of finishing but joy and love are always head of us - ‘eventually though practise, you no longer impose your thinking onto reality, and can experience everything as it really is: pure grace’. This vinyasa toys with this notion and works into a multitude of quad stretches, deep hip holds and funky binds. A longer practise which mainly focuses on standing postures with a short stretch before savasana.

Happy Feet

A warm vinyasa designed to wake up your feet! We often ignore our incredible feet by shoving them into shoes and forgetting just how much they assist our agility and sense of grace. Working with ankle rotations, heal balances as well as inner arch extensions we move through an invigorating vinyasa to ignite all the muscles surrounding the feet. Starting with a creative variation on Sun salutation B and working towards some peak poses such as bound half moon and natarjasana. Here we find binds that bring us closer to our feet.

A warm vinyasa, working through a multitude of standing twists and deep forward folds. A gentle remedy for a busy mind, as we sink into some grounding words from The Living Gita. Become the witness, the observer as you glimpse into the present moment, again and again can we feel at rest watching the show of practise as it unfolds before us. This warm vinyasa is just over 45 mins, strong, fluid, nourishing. (You might want a longer meditation/ savasana to finish.)
